Burton Boards Banned

With the up and coming 08/09 winter season all of us snowboarders are getting our gear ready, and getting our passes for the season ahead. Burton strategically enough, times the release of their new line of snowboards exactly for this time.

This year the designers at Burton boards released a line of snowboards featuring the images of vintage playboy supermodels. These limited release boards will only be available for sale through various store locations.

Just as soon as these boards were released they received much antagonism from various groups claiming that these boards send the wrong message to kids and teens who make up a large demographic of snowboarders.

Burton is however going to stick by their decision to design and market these boards, while refusing the remove them from sale. Some resorts have moved to ban any employee from using a board from this line while working for the resort. Activists for the designers at Burton are claiming that their boards are a form of art, and it would be wrong to ban them.

Whether the boards are banned or not, the controversy over them has generated a lot buzz, something that the management team at Burton hopes will lead to plenty of sales.
