How turn computer monitor into mirror?
Not too long ago in the vast world of the Internet somebody decided to challenge the problem of how to get a reflective background on their computer. Naturally their first instinct was to go get a mirror and put it through their scanner. Unfortunately for them, they soon learned that this would not work. They then resorted to their back up plan, asking the question on Yahoo and admitting to their earlier failure. You can find the original question here.
I have however, stumbled upon the illusive answer to this all important question. To have a mirror as your background is not as hard as one might first think. You will obviously require a web cam for this to work properly. You will then need to build a web page which displays the video that the web cam is recording. I'm not going to go into detail on how to do this, as this is more of a programming problem and you can find details to assist you in doing this here. You then navigate to where you set up your desktop background in windows, this is where you will find a "Customize Desktop" button and "Web" tab. From here you can specify the page you just built as the desktop background.
